Naturally...I have had bad teeth ever since I was real little. I am prone to many cavities and it has never been a fun trip to the dentist twice a year. When I was in my early 20s I didn't have dental insurance due to the companies I worked for didn't offer it. Therefore, since going to the dentist is expensive I never really went. In the last couple of years, I have been more diligent in going to the dentist and just paying out of pocket. Yes, it is still expensive...but I figure if I try to take care of my teeth now, I will have some when I am in my elderly years (God willing). I have been though putting off getting some cavities taken care of due to time, scheduling, and any other excuse I could think of. Well this weekend, one of the cavities really started to hurt. I called my dentist on Monday to see what I should do. The hygienist said that it sounded like the tooth that needed to be pulled, so I should call the oral surgeon. *sigh* I called over to my oral surgeon and was able to get an appointment for yesterday morning around 8am. I was excited to finally get this tooth taken care of. I do not enjoy getting teeth pulled...and my dentist would have tried to fill the cavity...but it was on a far back molar which had no tooth under it and so it was longer than any of the other top teeth on the left side. By 830am I was walking out of the oral surgeon's office with one less tooth in my mouth and a prescription for hydrocodone. I had wanted to go to my sociology class yesterday, but since I was going to be doped up on meds I decided against driving.

AI Update - Insemination Day!!!!
our day started at dr. levi's office at 7am. rob gave his sample there at the doctor's office. he came out and said, "i sure hope to hell i do not have to sit in that sample giving room any other time!" he said it was pretty nasty. poor guy. he would have produced the sample at the house but the office on friday didn't send me home with a cup! lol they called me back around 815am and the procedure was done a few minutes later. the numbers for today that they were looking for was a low ball of 5million before they wash the sperm. well rob started with like 3million (which normally people do not even think about doing AI with that.) after the wash rob had about 1.7 million good sperm...and even with that the sperm didn't look stellar either. but we went ahead and did the procedure only because like people say, "it only takes one spermy to make things work!" we were thinking of doing 2 days of insemination...but because of such low numbers rob gave today...we figured it would just be a joke.
after the appointment they gave me two more apts where i go back next week to check my projesterone and then the following week (two weeks from today) i will go in for a pregnancy test. eeek!!! so that is the update.
today we spent the day out at the Woodbury Commons Outlet Mall out in NY. So Rob and I had some shopping therapy. It was nice.

AI Update - July 24th
I went to the doctor levi's office yesterday. the nurse checked my follicles and saw that there are TWO that are the correct size that they are looking for. She had me do some blood work as well. she told me that if the blood work came back good, then she said she would call me and give me further instructions. I told her that she may have to leave a message on the cell phone only because i was going down to NYC for the day and may not hear my phone. She was able to get a hold of me and told me that everything came back good. So today I am taking the HGH shot at 815pm tonight. (goodness i am hoping that it was evening that she said otherwise this is going to throw everything off). Rob and I then arrive to the doctor's office on Monday morning at 730am for rob to give his "sample". The actual AI process will happen at 815am!! I will then go back on tuesday for one more insemination procedure. then will be the waiting period to see if any of the sperm did what we wanted them to do.
Rob also had an appointment with his urologist yesterday as well. He had to give a sample just so that dr. honig could see what rob's numbers were. the news coming from dr. honig were not very good...but we are still going to think positive. Rob's count was 11 million, 20% motility (# of sperm actually moving), Morphology is basically pinheads. we are keeping our chins up with everything.

Artificial Insemination Update
Rob and I had another doctor's appointment today with the fertility specialist. It was an appointment where he just told us all of the test results from the past two months. He said everything looks good, and would like to try Artificial Insemination. He wanted to try this month due to where I am in my cycle but I advised him that we wanted to wait until July due to Rob and my trip to China in late June. He completely understood. I asked him if they did one or two days of insemination and he said that they normally only do one, but could and would do two days if requested. He said that the office would check with out insurance to see if a second day would be covered. if not, we will still go ahead with the second day as advised from a good friend of ours. Dr. Levi said that he would put me on Clomid (not looking forward to that only because of the side effects it gives me.) for 5 days in July, then check to see how the ovulation is doing. If things look good, then he will give me a HGH shot (yes the same type of shot that Manny Rameriez and the other baseball players have gotten in trouble for using). he said that in women the HGH shot will increase the estrogen and help the body prepare for pregnancy or think that it is pregnant. **i am sure i am botching some of this up, somehow** 40 hours after i take the shot I will go in for day one of insemination. then the next day will be the second day. We are hoping that AI will work. If AI does not work then we will try In-vitro but where our insurance coveres as many attempts as we want with AI that will be our starting point.
What makes this all exciting is that tonight i found out that my close friend is starting the AI process as well!! so she and i may be pregnant at the same time!! so we will both be keeping our fingers crossed!!!
